Description - Evidence-Based Diagnosis in Primary Care by Paul P. Glasziou
This book will adopt the following changes to bring a thoroughly modern and evidence-based approach to the subject, jaking the book unique: French's Index is very hospital-orientated ie it tends to deal with problems which have alrady been referred to the hospital doctor by the GP. The diagnostic options are disease-oriented rather than patient-oriented. The reader has to read through a section to discover te required information, rather than spotting it immediately trhough the use of sub-headings which reflect te questions to which the read needs an answer. A better groupin would be by symptoms. No use is made in French's of the advances in evidence-based medicine made in the last two decades. Doctors need to know the probability of a diagnosis being correct expressed in statistical terms in order to make informed diagnostic decisions. This book will become a classic primary care text.
