Steve Salter has rapidly established himself as Ashford's best-known local historian, and his third book showcases some of the best images in his unique photographic archive. As with his previous books the focus is primarily on streets and buildings, but social and economic changes aren't forgotten. Old Ashford has to a large extent been buried beneath the massive redevelopment of the last twenty years, but Steve Salter guides us through the town as it used to be, illustrating long-lost landmarks and reminding us of what has gone - as well as pointing out historic features that still remain.
