"I can't conceive of a life without cats," Edward Gorey once mused; his affection for the animals meant that they could be found in great number in both his art and his home. Now, Gorey fans and cat lovers won't have to conceive of a world without "Category". This book collects a series of fifty cat vignettes, originally created by Gorey as accompaniments to a special edition of his book "Amphigorey." Each cat is numbered, one through fifty, to correspond with the fifty books to which the edition was limited. The originals are scattered far and wide, owned by the lucky fifty purchasers of the special "Amphigorey." But the lucky purchaser of Category-first published in 1974 and, of course, long out of print, never mind its rarity when originally issued-can enjoy the entire series at the stunningly humane price of just thirty cents a cat.
