This book takes a fascinating look at the psychology of fear and persuasion. In THE STRANGER NEXT DOOR, Arlene Stein sets out to discover why the people of a town with no apparent gay or lesbian population were hell-bent on getting rid of those individuals' 'special rights'. The result is a highly compelling and surprising story.
