Description - Psychology in Probation Services by David A. Crighton

This book serves as a route map for psychologists and probation officers working in probation services. The book starts by outlining the strategic framework for applied psychological services across probation and prisons. It then gives an up-to-date picture of some key emerging areas of applied psychological practice in probation settings, including: court work, mental health, working with sex offenders, risk assessment, group work, multi-agency public protection panels, lifer assessments, domestic violence work, and suicide and intentional self-injury. The editors are Deputy Head and Head of Psychology for Prisons and Probation Services, and therefore well placed to compile this book. The book can usefully be used alongside Graham Towl's Psychology in Prisons (BPS Blackwell, 2003).
