Description - Bleach, Vol. 1 by Tite Kubo
Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a fully-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits, and along with Rukia, who is slowly regaining her powers, it's Ichigo's job to both protect the innocent from Hollows and to help the spirits themselves find peace.

Book Review: Bleach, Vol. 1 by Tite Kubo - Reviewed by GorgeL (19 Jul 2011)
Stylish and incredibly sleek, those are the only words that can describe Bleach. Tite Kubo has drawn a manga based on 'Soul Reapers' whom collect lost souls and also fight off 'Hollows' who attempt to consume said souls.
While a simple premise, and some could assume that this will turn to a monster of the week type story, that's entirely false. The plot of this series does appear to be a monster-of-the-week thus far, but when we delve deeper into latter volumes, will readers realise just how emotionally invested they were in many of the characters.
I can't describe much of the story, without spoiling a lot. Quite simply, the world of Bleach is very 'cool'. Defining angles, and great dialogue make this series standout. And it won't be hard to like the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki.
Overall, a fantastic volume that shows exactly why Bleach is known for it's coolness.
