Bartlett and his friends Gozo and Jacques are exploring a chain of islands. Along wit a trusty translator by the name of Rau, they explore all the islands until the last one. When they arrive, no citizens come to greet them. The next morning they discover that their boat is missing. Who are these people? What do they want? They soon discover that the tribal people believe that they are gods of the volcano and must return again but all Gozo and Rau want to do is run away. However, Bartlett and Jacques are keen to find out what they are in for. One night, they see a man, or at least they think he is a man. Here in the flash of lightning but gone in a cloud of smoke. Is this creature or person going to kill them?
