Description - Scapino by Moliere

Comedy masterpiece premieres in new translation at Chichester published in "Drama Classics" series. Two young men have each found the love of their life. Unfortunately their fathers have other ideas. So the boys turn for help to Scapino, king of con men. But the old men's obstinacy drives Scapino to evermore ludicrous schemes to ensure that love wins the day. Written at the height of his powers - with the role of Scapino designed for himself - Moliere's farce is a masterclass in comic construction. This brand new translation premieres this summer on the main stage of the Chichester Festival Theatre, playing from May to September 2005.
