Phillip Allen was born in London in 1967, and continues to live and work in the city. He graduated from the Kingston University, London in 1990 and then from the Royal College of Art in 1992. Allen has exhibited in group shows in the USA, France, Italy, Belgium, Greece and Poland. These include, 'Archipeinture', Le Plateau (FNAC), Paris in conjunction with Camden Arts Centre, London 2006; 'the British Art Show' at BALTIC, London 2005-06; 'Stay Positive' at Marella Arte Contemporanea, Milan, 2004; 'Post Flat - New Art from London', Lock's Gallery, Philadelphia, 2003; 'Another Shitty Day in Paradise', Bart Wells Institute, London; The Royal Academy, London, 2002. Solo exhibitions of Phillip Allen's painting have been shown at the Milton Keynes Gallery, UK, 2006, The Approach Gallery, London in 2004 and 2002, Xavier Hufkens Gallery, Brussels, 2003, and the PS1 Contemporary Arts Centre, New York, 2003. Forthcoming exhibitions include Echo Chamber, a British Council curated show exhibiting at Alcala 31, Madrid, a solo show at Xavier Hufkins, Brussels and The Approach, London.
