Unlike the author's first collection, Consider an Island, the present work is composed of traditional stories interweaved with the main autobiographical narrative. The inspiration for this collection is a living tree on the waterfront of Broadford Bay at the foot of Beinn na Caillich in South Skye, a native ash tree that is a spiritual landmark in Rhona's daily walks.
