I don't know what I'd do without this book in my kitchen. It is a true "Cook's Companion". What I like most is going to the Farmers Markers down the road, buying some great looking fruit'n'veg, and then opening to the relevant section of this book to get ideas of what to do with it! Stephanie Alexander not only provides all of the 'essential' recipes and methods for everyday cooking but also throws in mouth-watering recipes from her friends and colleagues. The home-style cooking focus is also a refreshing change to the many celebrity chef cookbooks on the shelves today.
Author Biography - Stephanie Alexander
Stephanie Alexander AO is regarded as one of Australia's great food educators. Her reputation has been earned through 30 years as an owner-chef in several restaurants, as the author of 14 influential books and for her groundbreaking work in creating the Stephanie Alexander Garden Foundation. Everything she has achieved and worked towards has been driven by her desire to break down anxieties about cooking, to emphasise the beauty of produce fresh from the garden and to promote the pleasures of sharing around a table.
