Book Review: Mole Hunt: The Maximus Black Files by Paul Collins - Reviewed by (14 Jun 2011)

I haven't read that many otherworldly books myself, so I don't know if there are many other books like Mole Hunt about- I think though, that Mole Hunt, is fairly one of a kind. It's the story of a boy and it is set in a world where there are two seasons, the Murkyness and the clearing. Most prefer the Murkyness, because the clearing comes just before the metiors hit the planet with full force... that happens every six years and put's everyone on the planet on edge. Black, Maximus Black, is ruthless, he doesn't flintch before murdering a man in the first few pages with a banned wepon that kills in a most brutal way... too brutal for my liking- Black has something called a Needle Gun, which when you shoot it at someone, it goes through the skin and rips through the unlucky victim's nerves until it get's to their brains, where it unscrables it slowly and artfully... But Maximus mayn't be all he seems... he's got a little problem... Anneke in RIM (the same company that Black works in) knows somethings fishy and Black doesn't have a very clean slate...

To describe Mole hunt in a series of singular words I would say- Adventureous. Fierce. Hetic. Scary. Fantasiful. Otherworldly. Daring. Strong. Needlegun.

Mole Hunt is the first in a truly daring series by author of various novels Paul Collins- for some it will be filled with adventure, hope, mystery and a lot of intreigue... but not for all. I'm not a big fan for brutal killings in the first few pages... it really put me off and may have the same effect on many others.. but aat least try and see what you think, you nevr know!

Book Review: Mole Hunt: The Maximus Black Files by Paul Collins - Reviewed by (31 May 2011)

Utterly thrilling, nails-bitten-to-the-quick style suspense and brilliantly clever. This sci-fi book draws the reader into its dark, yet humorous world of undercover intelligence in a futuristic setting, where dominance of the galaxy is at stake. The protagonist – eighteen-year-old Maximus Black, is the cunning and artful undercover mole who is infiltrating RIM – the law enforcement agency which he is working for. Driven by personal vendetta, Maximus will stop at nothing to disguise his true identity and ensure his success of achieving galaxy dominance. Standing very much in his way, however, is fellow RIM spy Anneke Longshadow, who, upheld by moral code will do all she can to expose the mole and ensure that good prevails – THE HUNT IS ON! If you are looking for an energetic, captivating, good-versus-evil, spy-versus-spy, style thriller, this is your book!
