Quantum mechanics is one of the most challenging subjects to learn. It is challenging because quantum phenomenon is counterintuitive, and the mathematics used to explain such a phenomenon is very abstract, and difficult to grasp. This textbook is an attempt to overcome these challenges. Every chapter presents quantum ideas step- by- step in a structured way with a comparison between quantum and classical concepts. Author Biography - Shabnam Siddiqui

Dr. Shabnam Siddiqui earned her Bachelor of Science (Hons) and Master of Science with a specialization in Plasma Physics from the University of Delhi, New Delhi, India in 1999. She continued her advanced studies in physics from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, USA, and earned her PhD in physics in 2006, in the area of Quantum Computing and Quantum Information. After her PhD, she did her postdoctoral studies at NASA Ames Research Center, CA, and the University of Pittsburgh, PA. She also worked at Advanced Diamond technologies a spin-off from Argonne National Laboratory prior to joining Louisiana Tech University as a Research Assistant Professor in 2013. Presently she teaches at the University and her research is focused in the areas of nanomaterials for sensing and energy applications, physics education and fundamentals of quantum mechanics and its applications.
