'Funny, clever, deliciously dry... this book encourages kids to think outside the square, and hopefully, somewhere deep in that unlimited subconscious, understand that what we see is all about perception. What a powerful thought.' KIDS' BOOK REVIEW

Book Review: This Is a Ball by Beck Stanton - Reviewed by (19 Apr 2020)

I initially became introduced to this book when on placement in a prep classroom whilst studying to become a teacher. I saw how much the kids loved it and had to buy it for myself for once I was a full teacher. Once teaching, I read This Is A Ball by Beck and Matt Stanton and the kindergarten children were in hysterics and demanded for me to read it again and again each day. They loved how silly it is, how the book deliberately tries to trick them and how different it is to other books where everything is true and to be trusted. Knowing how much the kids loved it, and how I had to read it at least three times per day (luckily it's a quick read!), I bought a copy for the classroom library before I left so that they could continue to have it read to them. A silly book filled with trickery and untruths...a child's favourite!
